The Maternity Unit at Watford General Hospital operates the Special Care Baby Unit for babies born at 34 weeks or over. The Unit is run by neonatal nurses and neonatologists who together provide highly specialized care to treat newborn babies in need.

Staff at the SCBU work closely in all areas related to baby care such as baby feeding, hygiene, baby handling, appropriate baby stimulation, learning to read baby body language, etc.
